No Verbal Acuities.

I just love Jeff Bridges in films like 'Arlington Rd' and especially 'The Fantabulous Baker Boys' with his brother and the gorgeous Michelle Pfeiffer.
There's also The Big Lebowski - a cult if ever there was one.

Haven't got around to seeing it yet???

Don't worry here's the short version "without all the verbal acuities".
Thanks to growabrain

Oh and it's NSFW - I always wanted to write that.

Jeff is cool. So is Hebden Bridge, or rather the Labour Club there, provider of fine beer of a Sunday (at least it was when I lived in Leeds decades ago).
God that was interesting of me.

I don't remember there being all that swearing in The Big Lebowski! If there's a precis of Goodfellas that's like that, it's probably a couple of hours long.

Jeff has a real voice for the cinema. Shame he spells his name the wrong way.

Something I always tell people - I was in the ten pin bowling national championships as a teenager. I was pretty shit at it but there are so few bowlers in Britain, I got in.

What an extraordinarily small world.
Hebden Bridge is now famous for being the lesbian capital of the North .. if not the UK!

Oh and for Tony as well of course.

Betty:
Me neither - I think it just blended so naturally into the dialogue.
Goodfellas always means Pizza to me now .
So much for art!

Geoff:
Shame he spells it like Mr Archer.

Ten Pin Bowling championships - brilliant.
You are so modest - dude!

Sorry Kaz but I have watched the Big Lebow about 20 times...
a modern masterpiece...now I want to watch it again!

Ah yes, I do like the Fabulous Baker Boys....and indeed The Big Lebowski...even in its edited form!

Jeff Bridges also good in The Fisher King and Starman IMHO.

PS: What's happened to Google/Bloger comments that now want me to be anonymous?

Never could see the point of ten pin bowling.

And I always associated Hebden Bridge with weaving, and Bedford cord twill.
But I could be wrong.

Lebowski is so idle he even makes me seem industrious.

I think 'Withnail and I' are my favourite British idlers.

Nic:

But I've noticed that Blogger is now asking for a NiCname!

Have you seen 'Arlington Road'? You'd like it.

The very thought of bowling scares me rigid.

You are undoubtedly correct about Hebden bridge. I haven't been there for a long time, but it used to be a very arty/crafty hippy sort of place.
And don't forget that Bernard Ingham was born and brought up there before he defected.
