Something for the Weekend.

So - if the news or the weather is too depressing this weekend - you might find a minute to consider what's occurring with David Bowie and his chums in these photos.

After appearing with Mark and his lovely, but rather insincere smile, David decided to get his teeth done.

Lulu slipped into something sexy(ish) for the second shot - David just showed us his knees.

Is Iggy eating Fish and Chips?

Rod looks a trifle overdressed for this party - but at least he's brought a bottle of Blue Nun.

Here's David with William Burroughs who wrote 'The Naked Lunch'. It was very naughty and banned for many years.

Two other chums.

Any more thoughts on David's liaisons?

No, as long as the idiot stays away from me. I couldn't take the embarrassment.

Iggy's showing off his spare ribs.

David went down hill after I saw him at the General Gordon, Gravesend in 1947.

Nothing says classy like a bottle of Blue Nun

Oh and the last picture, is that some poor sod dressed up as Bill Clinton in a picture with David Hasselhoff?

Thankyou Dear Vicus:
We can always rely on you to start the discussion on an uplifting note.

Murph:
What again? And all the rest of his body as well I suppose.

'Gordon in Gravesend' - sounds like one of this moning's headlines.

Tony:
That's awful.
Was it before, after or during the heart attack?

Roses:
Excellent choice.
I might join you.

Pete:
But wouldn't you prefer a Babycham?

Hasselhoff - oh you mean the guy on the right in the tasteful pink tie.?

What about the photo backstage at the Royal Variety Performance where you could see two thin white dukes together.

And laughing gnome Jeanette Krankie could be seen in the background.

He seems to have liaised with a lot of people in the 1970's, but nobody since apart from Bill Clinton. Mind you, he lives in Switzerland these days, so I suppose there isn't much to do in the evenings, is there?

I still wouldn't mind "liaising" with him, despite the dental veneers and the quintuple bypass operation. Am I mad?

I'm sure I would Kazzy

I'm not sure, they could both be the Hoff if you ask me, at least behaviour wise. But I did mean the Hoff was the one to the left

slimmed down a bit obviously

Betty, I thought you were liaising with Jeff Goldblum.

Am I mad?

Geoff:
And he could do a live version of 'Under Pressure' with the Queen.

Betty:
Betty - find someone your own age and leave David to me.
See mj below.
Don't fancy my chances against that Iman though.

Pete:
Slimmed down and sobered up.

mj:
Yes.

Ah, the amazing Mr. Bowie nee Jones!

Some of our mutual friends and aquaintances (I wish):

Mick Ronson, Ian Hunter, Earl Slick, Carlos Alomar, Stevie Ray Vaughan (though they had a bit of a falling out after Bowie showed himself in video playing SRV's part), Gail Ann Dorsey, Reeves Gabrel, Lou Reed...

le sigh

I suspect Mr Bowie is one of those people that while I adore their art (and even their 'look' - teeth a great improvement yes!), but would probably dislike intensely as a person if I ever met them.

But since that's never going to happen, I won't worry about it!

No, David, leave me alone - I've TOLD you, it's OVERRRR.... What part of 'sod off' do you not understand???

I consider Mr Jones (damn that Monkee) to be the most creative force in music..it is impossible to estimate the number of artists that he influenced.

As for the Thin White Duke's getup and hairdoos...not so much..although he did love to ch ch ch change..which is a big part of the reason why he is my all time fave.
I just couldn't wear those styles because A I am a mesomorph and B I eat food.

I came of age in the early 70s under his musical tutelage and nobody can ever replace his influence...timing is everything in Life.

I note with interest the word 'our'.

Eamon:
Well apart from the flat cap I approve.
OK - those boots were best left behind in the 70s costume museum

Laura:
Well, though I can't admire the exile in Switzerland, I'd take my chance on the personality.
But only if you're quite sure you've finished with him.

Pete:
'off of' ... We don't do 'off of' in England.
Just off.

Donn:
I was in Winnipeg whilst you were over here.
I loved his art college looks - but perhaps they detracted from his talent - many didn't take him too seriously at first.
I love the term 'mesomorph'.

I loved Rod the Mod - but I wish he'd quit while he was ahead.
I don't like the one of Bowie in the flat cap - he looks like he could do with some of your whippets.

Pete:
Marvellous - with phrases like *Now let's go for a pint gov'nor* you could move in the best circles - as long as you did a fair bit of forelock tugging.
