Escaping.

Poor KAZ.

She has no family of her own - apart from the cousin in Marple of course.

There are no aunts and uncles to share her Christmas vodka. She has no siblings to rival. Worst of all there are no little cherubs wearing red satin sashes and starched crisp sailor suits.

AAAwh!

At a recent get together Kaz and her mates discussed Christmas plans.

Friend B's daughter will be visiting from London. She will be spending time at the local AA meetings as she's not fully cured yet - and she's still struggling with the cocaine habit.

Eileen will spend the 25th minding her son's dog in Sale. He's spending Christmas in Dorset with the in laws.

Jan and her husband have no kids - but that's OK because her sister and her FOUR very large sons will be staying for a few days.

Friend A will be alone in Tameside. She usually celebrates with her sister Pat. However, this year Pat has gone travelling in India. Rather an extreme way to avoid spending the day with A.

Kaz was walking round the Arndale earlier in December getting jostled by sweaty shoppers seeking 3 gifts for the price of 2 and 2 turkeys for the price of 1.

As Jingle Bells assaulted her ears for the fifth time that day she pulled out her mobile, phoned Kev and said 'We're free - let's go'.

This was my Christmas:

But It’s pouring down today!
:(

Hope you all had a good one too.

KAZ

Stop PRESS - it's SNOWING!

I met my sister's in-laws yesterday. The usual stilted conversation ensued (I'm a good listener).

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I envy you your Xmas day weather, cold and grey here (and eleven for dinner). I haven't had a beach walk on Christmas day for many years. :(

Today is a glorious sunny day in London. Still no beach though.

Snowing in Spain?!
Very cold here, but I have a log fire [no that wasn't a double entendre!]

I pointed my snowblower across The Pond at you.

My sister called to tell me she was hosting a Christmas dinner with 16 people attending.

As she yammered on about what hard work it was yet so rewarding as Christmas is for the kids blah blah blah, I sat smugly 'round the blazing hearth with my head houseboy serving me rum and eggnog and smiled the smile that only the voluntarily childless can appreciate.

My nephew got EIGHT presents (all expensive) and all I got was some socks and a box of Milk Tray.

There's no justice.

Maybe I'll go to Spain next year.

Tony:
Dry??
It's my friend's daughter that's a member of AA - not me.

Geoff:
I'm sure you didn't let the family down.
I remember the days when I had in laws. I used to pray there would be something good on the telly.

Steve:
Thanks Steve - I like being called a Jammy Dodger.
No higher compliment can I imagine.

View:
Until today the sunshine was unbroken.
And it was certainly gorgeous.

NiC:
Eleven!
Probably the best idea. More like a party.
You stole our weather today.

Scarlet:
Unfortunately it hasn't settled.
Is that a simulated electric log fire?
That could be a triple entendre ...... but it's not.

MJ:
You share DNA with this person?
Have you got proof - no not the rum!!

Garfer:
I'm already parcelling up a ceramic donkey wearing a sombrero to bring home for you.
It's full of brandy - but I'll have to drink all that to get it through check in.
OK - it's no bother.

I have no progeny Kaz thanks to a rather cruel piece of surgery inflicted upon me in puppyhood. I've got 8 brothers and sisters but they were all rehomed to different places.
I sometimes dream that Cilla Black would relaunch "Surprise Surprise" and bring us all back together for a reunion.
We could stage the meeting at "The Rover's Return".

pS Morecambe was still sunny again this Christmas!

YOU ARE SO LUCKY!
Is it real snow, is it landing, or is it just 'teasing snow'?

Of course it's snowing and raining, it always does in Manchester.

Never mind that lot and Cilla - let's have a blogmeet in the Rovers. We can invite Schmeichel and Chesney.
Did you see Poirot at the Midland again?

Ziggi:
It was real snow which sttled on the cars and the ground.
But it's all melted now.

Ziggi 2:
Thank God for that.
Kev has been swearing and shouting in front the lap top this afternoon.
It was streamed from the States - illegally I presume.

Vicus:
That is a statistical inaccuracy put about by people from Hampshire.

You will be very welcome as long as you bring some of those lovely cakes and biscuits that you baked.

I just leurve the way you pronounce Meyheeko - it's so autentiko.
Lovely antidote to wintry Winnipeg.

Quiet in Devon before the storm of family descending en masse. But the trifle is sorted and the pastry sits on top of the goose pie (the Christmas dinner leftover pie is the BEST). Happy hols Kaz!

Poor Kaz indeed! I was moggy-minding for a friend over Xmas. But am having a lovely new year in Brighton at my favourite hotel, so that'll be nice.

Hotel in Brighton - sounds marvellous.
I just love hotels but rarely stay in them. I'll be in one in Barcelona tomorrow night - great but so noisy I won't get much sleep.
