Is it Easter yet?

Looks like it must be - as I've seen lots of chocolate eggs, bunnies, chics and PAXO.

Before my idling days I had to check out the date of Easter as early as Boxing day.
It was essential to plan a holiday to escape the drizzle.

I have spent Easter
in Freezing Fuengirola, Hurricane hit Heraklian and there was that Tornado in Torremolinos.

Don't ask about Lanzarote.

But, this Easter, I shall not Be Queuing at B and Q, getting my kicks on the M66 or joining the locals up Rivington Pike.

The venues in the Saturday Guardian '100 Things for Kids to do' will be avoided and the Costas will thrill to Ryanair mobs without me.

Kev and I will share a CD and a pizza - here's one I made earlier.

Blogger xl said...

"one I made earlier"

Is it a CD or a pizza?

4:39 pm
Blogger MJ said...

Oh Hai, XL!

My question exactly.

4:46 pm
Blogger zIggI said...

looks like I made it

5:07 pm
Blogger Christopher said...

Is it on the floor, the wall or the ceiling?

5:09 pm
Blogger Dave said...

You haven't got the same oven as me, have you? The one that carbonises jacket potatoes.

5:14 pm
Blogger Steve said...

So. You're having a barbecue then...?

5:15 pm
Blogger I, Like The View said...

none of your pictures came out for me!! so I don't know what everyone is referring to

(is it yummy?)

5:54 pm
Blogger Rosie said...

What is it? A black ink squid pizza?

6:01 pm
Blogger KAZ said...

It looks like vinyl.
Sam Cooke?

Can't you find a question of your own?

Exactly my thoughts.

It's a Pizza not a pancake. So it's firmly planted on the floor.
We don't toss pizzas in Manchester.

Wasn't that a microwave?
This was a fan assisted oven - actually it was me that needed assistance.

No Garden.
No Sun.
No Barbie

I had a crisis.
They are back now.
Yummy - NO!

A black ink Margharita.

6:21 pm
Blogger Dave said...

It was a combi-oven. I thought it was cooking on fan oven alone, but the machine took it into its mind to cook on both fan oven and microwave. Hence the exploding potato after 15 minutes.

6:35 pm
Blogger Rog said...

As my old friend Rinvington used to say ... "Don't tell him your name Pike!".

Will you be doing the Pike Race? Chorley you can't be serious?

7:31 pm
Blogger Gerald (Hyde DP) said...

We've got a combi and I once microwaved a pizza - threw it in the garden but neither the birds, cats nor squirrels were interested.

Typical british weather at easter is snow.

9:27 pm
Blogger Vicus Scurra said...

I have no interesting kitchen disasters to share.

10:33 pm
Blogger mago said...

Flamethrower? Bunsen-Brenner? Self-combustion?
This pike looks damn cold and empty. I would not leave my couch alone and go for this place.
Anyway I hope the crisis is over.

Blogger Ponita in Real Life said...

Perhaps you should order in.... so that neither of you will get food poisoning, or need intestinal surgery to remove undigestible objects.

Blogger dinahmow said...

The same oven responsible for "that sausage" perhaps?

And, charitably changing the subject - look at those Marcel Waves in the top pic. And the dead-sexy lab coats.

ah! now I see. . .

. . .paxo is the only real stuffing

8:26 am
Blogger KAZ said...

Those combi-ovens can be so difficult.
I just ignore all the features.

'fraid not.
But Kev and I hiked up the pike a couple of years ago and had a spiffing time.

Snow - have you got records for this?

That's because you keep well away from the kitchen and leave in to Mrs Vicus.

Bunsen-Brenner? The tennis player?
Oh NO - the pike is a popular place for a day out.

But I live in a student area where most of the call out is awful!

No - but similar.
It always amazes me how smart they look on those old production lines.

How much?

Yes - more about Paxo one day.

12:36 pm
Blogger white rabbit said...

Lavatorial Lanzarote?

Actually, I like Easter. Less hype than Christmas and the weather is better.

As for Paxo - I assume you are not referring to Jeremy Paxman - dreadful stuff. Smells like embalming fluid. Make proper stuffing with diced cooking apple, toasted breadcrumbs and a pinch of cinnamon or somesuch.

2:54 pm
Blogger Scarlet Blue said...

Looks like we've been using the same cookery book.

5:13 pm

I don't get it. What is everyone complaining about?

That's what normal pizza looks like.

At least it is in this household.

8:08 am
Blogger Arabella said...

To add the lengthening list of 'horrible things about getting old-er': pizza hangover.
I wouldn't have believed it possible, but I've conducted research, cough, and yes, the cheaper the pizza the bigger the hangover (not talking midriff).

Hope your Easter is headache-free.
