Is it Easter yet?Looks like it must be - as I've seen lots of chocolate eggs, bunnies, chics and PAXO.
Before my idling days I had to check out the date of Easter as early as Boxing day.
It was essential to plan a holiday to escape the drizzle.
I have spent Easter in Freezing Fuengirola, Hurricane hit Heraklian and there was that Tornado in Torremolinos.
Don't ask about Lanzarote.
But, this Easter, I shall not Be Queuing at B and Q, getting my kicks on the M66 or joining the locals up Rivington Pike.
The venues in the Saturday Guardian '100 Things for Kids to do' will be avoided and the Costas will thrill to Ryanair mobs without me.
Kev and I will share a CD and a pizza - here's one I made earlier.

It was a combi-oven. I thought it was cooking on fan oven alone, but the machine took it into its mind to cook on both fan oven and microwave. Hence the exploding potato after 15 minutes.
As my old friend Rinvington used to say ... "Don't tell him your name Pike!".
Will you be doing the Pike Race? Chorley you can't be serious?
We've got a combi and I once microwaved a pizza - threw it in the garden but neither the birds, cats nor squirrels were interested.
Typical british weather at easter is snow.
I have no interesting kitchen disasters to share.
Flamethrower? Bunsen-Brenner? Self-combustion?
This pike looks damn cold and empty. I would not leave my couch alone and go for this place.
Anyway I hope the crisis is over.
Perhaps you should order in.... so that neither of you will get food poisoning, or need intestinal surgery to remove undigestible objects.
The same oven responsible for "that sausage" perhaps?

Actually, I like Easter. Less hype than Christmas and the weather is better.
As for Paxo - I assume you are not referring to Jeremy Paxman - dreadful stuff. Smells like embalming fluid. Make proper stuffing with diced cooking apple, toasted breadcrumbs and a pinch of cinnamon or somesuch.
Looks like we've been using the same cookery book.

To add the lengthening list of 'horrible things about getting old-er': pizza hangover.
I wouldn't have believed it possible, but I've conducted research, cough, and yes, the cheaper the pizza the bigger the hangover (not talking midriff).
